NEW SINGITA BROCHURE ILLUSTRATES INSPIRING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT APPROACH
Singita Game Reserves, Africa’s premier operator of luxury game lodges, has introduced a brochure which delineates the Singita approach to sustainable tourism. It also provides a comprehensive overview of the key conservation projects and community programmes which Singita spearheads and supports in each of the wildlife reserves it operates within. These range from the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve and Kruger National Park in South Africa, to Tanzania’s Grumeti Reserves and the Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve in Zimbabwe.
Beautifully packaged and presented, the brochure is a valuable resource of the Singita ethos, highlighting its focus on three pillars of sustainable development – Wildlife Conservation, Eco-friendly tourism and Community Support.
The brochure not only reveals the far-reaching positive effect of eco-philanthropy in Africa but, in response to enquiries from guests, also guides and directs interested parties to specific projects they may wish to support in partnership with Singita.
In the Sabi Sand these include the Tshemba Hosi Care Centre for 100 physically/mentally challenged children and the Singita Tracker and Field Guide Academy; the Singita School of Cooking in Kruger National Park; the Environmental Education Centre in Singita Grumeti Reserves; as well the support of local schools in each of the Singita locations. Singita Pamushana and Singita Grumeti Reserves both provide support to anti-poaching efforts and also conduct extensive wildlife research. At Pamushana a number of food security and school feeding programmes are run, providing 23 000 children with a balanced meal per day.
Lindy Rousseau, Singita Group Sales and Marketing Manager says: ‘At Singita we are custodians of 230 000 hectares (563 300 acres) of natural bush, and it is our mission to help protect and maintain this land and its wildlife in their original state. We also assist the people who live on the outskirts of the Reserves to understand the intrinsic value of these pristine areas. Singita offers opportunities to our guests to visit local communities, and to interact with their natural surroundings in the bush, thus affording people from all over the world the chance to learn and to take an active role in our philosophy of ‘Touching the Earth Lightly’.
